On Just Us Kids, James McMurty follows up his critically acclaimed Childish Things with a
dozen new, sharply drawn illuminations as he continues to hone and expand his considerable gifts. And
the self-produced opus (James’ fourth venture pulling strings on both sides of the glass) unquestionably
represents his most ambitious, accomplished and ass-kicking presentation to date.

Joe Hall & The Louisiana Cane Cutters w/special guest
the BS Brass Band, 9pm, $10 TW/advance tickets. [zydeco]
Joe
Hall carries on the musical traditions of his family as traceably far back as his
grandfather, accordionist Clamont King Ned, and King Ned's brother,
fiddler Jean Batiste Ned. His years of research in the old Creole songs and traditions brings
a solid base to the fairly recent formation of the Louisiana Cane Cutters, creating a progressive danceable
blend of Creole and zydeco.

The B.S. Brass Band plays everything from traditional Dixieland to James Brown funky grooves, and
anything in between. The B.S. Brass Band was formed in 2000 by Mike Hogg (sousaphone/leader) and Jason Thor
(trombonist with the Brian Setzer Orchestra). After attending a brass band show in Chicago, they realized that
this town is ripe for forming a group capable of producing a big, tight horn sound with that infectious New Orleans
second-line groove.

The Bridge w/guests The Giving Tree Band, 9:00pm, $10 TW/advance
tickets. [ROCK]
The
Bridge is a unique rock band who combine elements of blues and roots, spiced with funk
and soul. Through constant touring they have built a loyal following throughout America and Europe
fueled by gritty, dynamic live performances and poignantly hand-crafted albums.
“This Baltimore based quintet is starting to make noise on the national radar with its second
release on Hyena Records. More soulful and funky than many in its genre, the band writes gutsy
yet melodic songs infused with a Southern, red-clay spirit that fills the slot between the grinding,
blues-based North Mississippi All Stars, the New Orleans R&B tinge of the Radiators and Little
Feat's gruff, expressive groove.” – Creative Loafing magazine, Atlanta, GA.
thebridgemusic.com
The
Giving Tree Band is an Americana indie folk-rock group started in 2004 by brothers Todd
and Eric Fink and based in Yorkville, Illinois. The band uses a multitude of acoustic instruments
including guitar, banjo, upright bass, violin, mandolin, slide dobro, dulcimer, ukulele,
harmonium, harmonica, glockenspiel, drums and percussion. During their November 3, 2008 appearance
on “Woodsongs Old Time Radio Hour,” host Michael Johnathon described them as
having "the spirit of Pete Seeger with the musical abilities of The Band."
The Giving Tree Band is also known for extraordinary environmental stewardship and eco-friendly
music production. They use a number of instruments that were handmade from naturally fallen trees
and reclaimed woods. They have recorded with renewable energy and package all their CDs with 100%
recycled materials.

Terry Adams, NRBQ founding member and irrepressible keyboardist for these many years, has been bringing
his unique musical vision to the listening public for decades. In 2007, he gathered up a few musicians
to form a new quartet: Chicago's Scott Ligon, of whom the Chicago Reader says, “he’s
earned a reputation as a versatile musician with a vast repertoire,” is on guitar and vocals, (and it’s Scott’s 40th Birthday!); New York's Pete Donnelly, of The Figgs and Graham Parker, is on bass; and on drums is
Conrad Choucroun from Austin. Not surprisingly, Terry’s new band is much like his old band – great musicians,
no set lists, a fearless attitude, rock, jazz, pop, humor. And no end of fun!

Oklahoma-based singer and guitarist, known since the 1950s as the Queen of Rock-a-billy, Wanda
Jackson has just recorded a new album with producer Jack White. In an era when rock & roll
and rockabilly was dominated by men, Jackson was a ground-breaker who more than held her own with
a ripping voice like no other and hard-headed songs about no-nonsense female protagonists. Her
career has spanned rockabilly, rock and roll, country, and gospel; and she’s shared stages
with all the greats from Elvis Presley to Jerry Lee Lewis. Jackson’s first release with Third
Man Records shows her putting her own distinctive spin on two cover songs, Amy Winehouse’s "You
Know I’m No Good" and Johnny Kidd and the Pirates classic rocker “Shakin' All
Over.” In 2009 Wanda was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. Bob Dylan, Elvis Costello,
and Bruce Springsteen were just a few of the high-profile artists that encouraged the Hall to induct
the Queen over the last few years.

tickets. [Americana]
Dave Alvin, Grammy Award winning singer-songwriter and self-described “barroom guitarist,” is
widely considered to be one of the pivotal founders of the current Americana music scene. Dave
Alvin’s current labors of love, the albums Dave Alvin & The Guilty Women and Man
of Somebody’s
Dreams: A Tribute to the Songs of Chris Gaffney are inextricably linked. After the death of long-time
Guilty Men accordionist and best friend Chris Gaffney, Alvin set out compiling a tribute to the
man and his songs, racking up tracks by heavyweights like Calexico, Los Lobos, Alejandro Escovedo,
James McMurtry and many others. Even though Alvin knew that Chris would want him back in the studio
creating and doing what he loved as fast as possible, Dave felt the wound was still too raw to
record with the Guilty Men. However, turning his considerable creative forces to a fresh project
was just what the doctor ordered. The Guilty Women line-up of Cindy Cashdollar, Nina Gerber, Laurie
Lewis, Christy McWilson, Sarah Brown, Amy Farris and Lisa Pankratz debuted at the 2008 Hardly Strictly
Bluegrass Festival. Alvin knew instantly this was the band he would record with. “It just
felt so natural,” says Alvin. “It was like I had been playing with them for a hundred
