Kichwa Music Ensamble
FREE SHOW! RSVP FOR GUARANTEED ENTRY!
Among the northern Andes of Ecuador, the province of Imbabura is located, a magical corner where the native Kichwa nation lives, an ancient people, known for its merchants and musicians; Sanjuanito is born there, the most universal musical rhythm that Ecuador has at this moment. This rhythm of the Andean genre is what feeds harmonies and melodies to the Cumbia Sonidera in Mexico, and is a fundamental part of the DNA of what in Peru has come to be called Cumbia Sanjuanera. Chicago is home to a thriving Kichwa community, which also hosts Kichwa musicians from different bands who have join to present what they have called Kichwa Music Ensemble. A two-hour show will be full of cumbia, huaynos and Imbaburean sanjuanitos and fandangos as a remembrance of the Andean community celebrations of Pawkar and Inti Raymi.
Enjoy dinner from BABYGOLD BARBECUE
